My Student Teaching Experience

I don't think that all of the classes that an elementary education undergraduate could take could ever compare to the enlightening and educational experience you have when you student teach. Although there are some horror stories that are sent from college dorm to college dorm I have to say that I was, or at least I feel, that I was the luckiest student teacher alive.

I have decided to add this page to my website as a dedication to my wonderful supervisor, Mrs. Jill Schaffer (Bloomsburg University), and  each and everyone of the amazing students that I met and taught along the way. If I ever had any doubt about becoming a teacher it was washed away each and everyday that I walked into those classrooms.

The first student teaching experience I had was in a third grade class with Mrs. Linda Casey.  Mrs. Casey graciously opened her classroom to me and taught me what an exceptional learning environment is all about.  Mrs. Casey's third grade class opened their minds and hearts to me from the moment I walked into the classroom.  Below are pictures of Mrs. Casey's third grade class.  Just click on the photo to see a larger version of the pictures.

While student teaching in Mrs. Casey's class I was given the opportunity to develop close relationships with some really great students. Below are some great pictures of my experiences with these students.

Each and everyone of these students really showed me what it meant to feel special. On my last with Mrs. Casey's class they threw me a future teacher shower.  The students all brought in things that I would need for my first classroom, and while I sat in the middle of the room each excited student gave me their gift.  It was one of the best moments of my life, one that I will cherish forever.
